All the fish were in 5-15 feet of water. As we moved back to the narrows in the afternoon, we did see a little more bait on the meter. So - that's bass fishing - something different every trip!! Lots of fish in the 2-2.5lb range. We threw topwater and soon I had a vicious hit and after a major tussle, landed a 3 + lb spotted bass. Maybe should have tried topwater there in the early morning! After dark a 3 lb spotted bass and another largemouth just under 6 lbs. One smallmouth on a jig and one spot on dropshot. The fishing was off during the day with no signs of activity at all till late evening when the sun started to set and the surface water started to cool down and then the action started. Tips: Topwater didn't work with the sudden heat. One of my 2 1/2 lb smallies looked like a trophy - tall as she was wide - gorgeous!!!
Circled back to the same bush about 15 minutes later with a popper and she blasted it. this pattern continued through with Mike, Dusty, Tim, and David. Only speared one wave - highlight of the day, Tips: Obviously, the bait made a fall move and we didn't make the same move - I guess. By this time it was about noon and it was starting to warm up so I decided to try and start running some bank and fishing shallow with a weightless fluke. We used chatter baits, underspins, and texas rigs to produce the majority of our fish. The weather was ideal the fishing conditions great and just being outdoors was wonderful. Tips: It seemed like if we were not around grass or deeper water we would not get bit. Tips: hard to fish in white caps and wind so we went where we were sheltered good idea but no fish back of ski school near the narrows. When I went out in the evening with Steve we ended up with two limits of five each the biggest bass was about four pounds. We caught a few in the 2 - 2 1/2 lb range. Really couldn't find any big schools of bait fish, though we only went up to mid-lake. and could cast like he was mid 20's - no kidding!!! With having to be house bound for so long I was eager to get back to what I love to do. Report: I guided two older gentlemen at Berryessa on Thursday. I usually don't join the Putah Creek crowd, so don't offer info on that area. We catch a bunch of fish in the 2-3lb range and Tyler connects with a 4.40lb spotted bass that looked like it just ate a trout! I think they will do this trip with me yearly they had a great day. Overall a solid day, Was catching fish in 3' down to 50'. Wow, that lake with all the open water, like Clear Lake, can get nasty in a matter of minutes. That's why we keep coming back ---right?? Best 5 only about 10 pounds. Bachelor to simple slopes for beginners. Gusâs Fishing Tackle
This is an incomplete list of the lakes and reservoirs of Oregon. I continued on to the vineyards and still no bites. Another next cast with a Little Dipper. All eight of our fish came from less than 20 ft., with the shallowest at about 8 to 10 feet. I don't think this weekends rain will change that much as the ground soaks up most of the first rain after any kind of drought - even just a 2 month drought. The sun will be higher each day and water can get really clear in the spring if no runoff. It was their twentieth wedding anniversary and they wanted to go for a day of bass fishing. We found bait both shallow and deep but could not get them to bite.
We wound up with several nice bass of all three species. It was well after lunch before Dad got his only fish and it was the smallest of the day. We fished all over the lake and each one of us caught limits of quality bass from 2 1/2 to 4 pounds. We got a few spoon bites but missed 'em. I think the two good friends had a nice day with me as we each caught 5 nice bass with Alex spoiling our record with the only dink - LOL!!! After a while I headed out to the Narrows the wind was still a factor but I tried the first cove by the ranch house and we landed the first bass of the day. 17,504 were here. 94121. Report: A friend and I hit Berryessa on Friday for about 6 hours and found the bite to be slow, but ok. Several in the 2 1/4 to near 3 lbs - all three species - with some fat smallies! Fish are definitely up, seems like there targeting beds looking for somewhere to spawn. we went up the east side to the vineyards with no signs of life and no fish. I went out with Gary who wanted to fish for crappie. Next morning I took Frank and his two sons out with almost the same results as the day before. When the weather starts to cool in Northern California, you can run the bank and fish points with a jig or a drop shot and catch a few here and a few there, but if you take the time to run the lake and find the birds and bait, you can have a field day. My client, who is an excellent bass fisherman, and I stared out in areas near the dam with no results. Report: Got out to fish this nice weather, got on about 7:30am hooked up within 30 with a deep diving crank. Overall, I really think the sudden hot days that were late this year might have the bass a little disoriented. I spent a lot of time helping, un-sticking, and coaching but I still ended up with somewhere around 15 fish for the day.
Quality bass fishing but not quantity this trip. Fishing will be slow for 18- to 20-inch trophy trout, stocked rainbow trout with the occasional brook trout or lake trout. Hard to remember a trip that tough after the overall good September. Thanks,

We stayed pretty much in the narrows today and I ended with six bass with no size. This is going to be THE day!! Fall fishing is here at Berryessa - hunt bait - fish. Fishing in the evening was not only more productive but cooler as well. It was strange to catch one of the big largemouth during the first 10 minutes of the trip on a hot evening. Considering the brutal weather conditions, I was happy with some good action and our best five pushing 14 lbs. we went thru white caps until we reached big island water was quitter and we started to catch fish ,call me will tell you the rest of fishing story. We would move pretty quickly if it wasnât âhappeningâ. Water is warming - slowly. If Berryessa wouldn't go dead-flat calm in the fall afternoons, the morning bite would continue. Surface temp is lower than I prefer but was expecting to find more active fish feeding before it gets too cold, trout are very active fish chasing bait on the surface every spot I fished. the largest playa lake in the north Alvord Valley, an impoundment of McKay Creek, a tributary of the, nineteen Oregon lakes share this name, but are distributed throughout the state, a mountain lake 10 miles (16 km) north of Mount Jefferson, a natural lake (though artificially enlarged) that is a former channel of the, largest lake dammed by sand dunes along the Oregon coast; near, mountain lake west of Mount Bachelor and along the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway, There are at least seven Summit Lakes in Oregon, and at least two communities. We moved offshore in the afternoon and continued to catch them on the T-rig and dropshot. Ice fishing, when possible, is becoming increasingly popular at Diamond Lake and many reservoirs in eastern Oregon. Biggest 3 were a 6lber on the swaver, 4lber on the rip bait, 4lb spot on the jig, 3lb smallmouth on the rip bait
Had about 30 fish on darter heads and crankbaits. Bite was very slow - probably because of the heat, We did catch a good largemouth about 8 pm that went 5 1/2 lbs. We ended up catching a few nice bass. We have been on a huge school of shad and bass. Chatter bite died as soon as sun got higher and wind simmered down. Best 5 about 12 lbs. No hot spots as they were scattered - one here and one there. Not so!!! We had a few dinks, but most were 2 1/4 to 3 lbs - all three species! Talk about scattered!! However, ice conditions in Oregon can be unpredictable and anglers should use caution. The boy did very well considering and landed three fish by himself with two of those fish being our biggest fish of the day at about 16 1/2 inches. Bait could be moving towards the north end of the lake. Couldn't believe it.

Or pull over at one of Oregon’s Sno-Parks for cross-country skiing, sledding and tubing. I got to take my buddy Albert and his grandson Daniel out on Sunday afternoon and we stayed out till dark. Today it was much less clear but very fishable. You can even rent an entire mountain for the day. Even after a few hours of dark, the fish were not active as they were on my night trip two week ago. From that point on both Scott and Mark were busy bringing in some nice bass from 2 to 4 pounds. I guess that's fun?? I decided to go to the back of the Monticello ski school to be sheltered from the wind. We found them quick by positioning the boat in 14 ft of water on gradually tapered banks near the main lake. After many months of waiting to get back on the lake and fish this Memorial Day Weekend was perfect.

Was fishing pretty shallow 3-6 feet fishing fluke pretty fast and erratic. Just think they weren't aggressive early since we saw NO topwater action - only a dink or two.

Around noon he hooked the big-un of the days at 3 1/4 lbs - a nice spotted bass!! The lake is very low at 10 percent full, based on the 15,600 acre feet taken out for irrigation. She read - he fished!! Again, almost all the fish including the big spot were caught on the new baits that we will be telling you more about in the future.
